Miss Rodeo America pageant is an event that takes place concurrently with the wrangle National Final Rodeo on an annual basis. This event allows the presiding rodeo queens to compete for Miss Rodeo America crown. The areas which are tested include horsemanship, personality, and appearance.
History of MRA
Being an annual event, MRA takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and all rodeo queens across America are entitled to participate. The winner is chosen based on horsemanship, personality, and appearance, and she will receive more than $20, 000 in prizes and this includes wrangler apparel, Justin boots, Montana Silversmiths jewelry, scholarship and a crow that perfectly fits her cowboy hat.
As a rodeo queen, she now becomes the face of rodeo and represents her region or association for one year. During these 12 months, the Rodeo queen is required to be in a cowboy hat, sash, and crown. To be crowned the Rodeo queen, you need to have remarkable skills in public speaking, horse riding, have rodeo knowledge, and a great personality.
As Miss Rodeo America, she represents her title ion various parades, rodeos, television and radio interviews, charity events, and school events. During the year in which an individual holds the state title, she will be traveling the country, educating and promoting not only the rodeo sport, but she will also be supporting the western way of living. It is expected that the MRA travel over 120, 000 miles during her reign.
The first MRA was inaugurated in 1956, and Marilyn Scott Freimark was the winner. The current MRA 2019 is Taylor McNair from Mississippi, and the event took place from 2-9 December 2018.

Having made a permanent home in Las Vegas, this year, the MRA pageant 2020 will be held at the Tropicana Las Vegas from 1st December 2019 to 8th December 2019. More than 30 contestants will be competing during the one-week competition. In this year’s event, miss Rodeo America and Tropicana Las Vegas organization will be providing pageant, and rodeo fans will be offered a resort fee that is reduced, and this is only for a limited time. The room rates at the Tropicana Las Vegas will be as follows:
- Block 1 rooms valid from 28th November- 10th December
Sun-Thurs: $65+ $15 resort fee per night which has been reduced from $35
Fri- Sat: $145+$15resort fee per night.
- After block 1 rooms are full, the rates will vary and will be valid from 28th November- 10th December
Sun-Thurs: $75+$15 resort fee per night.
Fri- Sat: $155+$15 resort fee per night.
Miss Rodeo America Scholarship foundation
This is a foundation that was established in 1997 to allow donors to support others who appreciate professional rodeo. This is a way of life that was founded on the American Cowgirl legacy. Since its establishment in 1955, the MRA Pageant has recognized the necessity of scholarship as a way of assisting the contestants in furthering their education.
The winner of MRA receives $20, 000 educational scholarships from the MRA Scholarship Foundation. The winner for other categories also receive a scholarship, and every contestant who participates is awarded a minimum of $1000. The Wrangler NFR has always been an exciting time for most people, especially the Las Vegas community and having Miss Rodeo America is a thrilling addition to this incredible event.
